Make Lunch

Free school meals make a huge difference to almost two million children in the United Kingdom, but when schools are closed so are the kitchens. β€œMake Lunch” is a network of churches working to fill the holiday hunger gap.

At Hemel Hempstead Methodist Church, on each Thursday of the summer school holiday, a hot meal was provided for children and their families (no referrals required).

We were open from 11.30 am, giving children an opportunity to play, supervised by their parents, with lunch being served at 12.00 noon.

An item about Make Lunch was broadcast on BBC Three Counties Radio on Sunday 9th August at 7 18 am during the show hosted by Mike Naylor and features interviews with our Minister, those who organise Make Lunch and those who came along
